Greenferd… Ahead of the Curve Once Again!
After almost 30 years of business, Greenferd has weathered the storm of countless global changes and industry disruptions. But as the world has changed, our business has changed too; our company has continued to thrive by continuously adapting our expertise to satisfy emerging market trends.
In a previous blog, we placed a spotlight on our team’s versatility through our recent work within the bio-tech lab space for Notch Therapeutics and other lab clients. This was an incredibly rewarding project – so much so, that we have done it again!
While working with bio-tech lab companies, we were provided an inside look at the healthcare crisis and associated surgical backlog. It became clear to us that operators in this sector face several unique challenges that could be better addressed with the partnership of a tenured construction company. With this in mind, the Greenferd team began actively seeking opportunities in the medical sector, building on our success with companies such as Regen Scientific.
Recently, we joined forces with CapEx Management and the team working on delivering a full surgical facility for Clearpoint Health Network. This project required work on an existing building and, as Construction Manager, our responsibilities included:
• Reviewing the drawings as they evolved to provide insights and to ensure consistency and timely completion
• Providing budgets and value engineering services
• Working with the team to review construction issues and develop solutions
• Identifying and ordering long-lead items and specialty equipment
• Leading the team throughout each phase of construction
• Coordinating with building management team prior to installations
• Timely completion to allow for a fixed open date for surgeries
Although this was a new venture for Greenferd, our team brought their industry expertise and unparalleled leadership skills to the table – and the results were outstanding.
Greenferd, in partnership with CapEx Management and C& Partners Architects, were able to deliver one of Ontario’s first private surgical units. Thanks to the combined expertise and collaboration of all teams involved, the private surgical unit was ready for use just before Doug Ford’s formal public announcement pertaining to these units and how they would be utilized in the near future. This incredible, full-scale surgical facility includes:
• Patient waiting room
• Elevator
• 6 full operating rooms for any type of surgery
• Easy clean, Porcelanosa wall and floor tile
• Altro Whiterock wall panels installed with welded seams
• Digital wall graphics
• Back-painted glass wall panels
• Backup generator to the entire building systems
• New Mechanical room and equipment c/w new fire pump separate from the base-building system
• New humidification and HEPA filtration systems
• Draeger booms to handle medical equipment
• Headwalls including medical gas, oxygen anaesthetic lines, dedicated power
• Recovery rooms, including separate washrooms
• MRI and XRAY rooms
• Lead-lined walls, including doors and frames
• Scrub sinks and sterilization units
As you might imagine, the requirements of medical facilities are numerous and complex. Over the last 29 years, our team has proven that we have the skills, industry expertise, and shared passion to successfully bring these projects from concept to completion.
Ontario, like many other provinces in Canada, will continue to see growing demand for healthcare services due to its aging population and increasing rates of chronic illnesses. As a result, there is a need for newly constructed and renovated healthcare facilities to meet this growing demand, to ensure that patients receive timely and high-quality care.
If you are considering a healthcare project and are in need of a proactive partner with a focus on solution-driven, high-touch service and an expansive portfolio of successful construction projects, give us a call. We would be thrilled to help you bring your next project to life!
